Following a GPS track using your smart phone or other GPS enabled device is the best way to ensure that you DON'T GET LOST while hiking in Sedona, This digital download includes the GPS tracks for all trails listed in Chapter 6 of The Wanderer's Guide to Hiking Sedona. Covering an area known as Oak Creek Canyon, this is where visitors will find the greatest number of swimming holes in Sedona, making it especially popular with families in the summer months. This area is especially convenient for visitors staying in Uptown Sedona or in the canyon itself.
Three separate files come in the download:
1. a .kmz file which can be install in the free DESKTOP version of Google Earth by simply double clicking on it.
2. a .gpx file which you can install in any GPS enabled device or the hiking app of your choice.
3. a .pdf file with a link to these routes preinstalled on CalTopo. This is the hiking app we use most often when navigating in the backcountry. CalTopo also makes it easy to export a single track to any other hiking app for those who need that functionality.
