Marg's Pocket Loop & The Solitude Rocks

Marg's Pocket is a social trail that branches off the Marg's Draw system trail. This loop route is most easily accessed from the parking area at Sombart Lane. While it crosses relatively gentle terrain that would be ideal for mountain bikes in other parts of town, the route goes through the Munds Mountain Wilderness Area, where mountain bikes are not allowed.

The social trail crosses a large section of slickrock to reach a series of scenic high points jutting off Munds Mountain that we call the Solitude Rocks (shown below) because you're virtually guaranteed to have them all to yourself.

The slickrock section of the loop toward Solitude Rocks includes numerous waterpockets that become reflecting pools for Munds Mountain (shown above) whenever there has been enough rain or snow. The loop can be accessed from two different parking areas.

Reaching the top of any of the high points we call Solitude Rocks (shown below) will give photographers a great view. The best light will be late in the afternoon. Hiking out for the sunset on a night when the moon is full would easily provide enough light to hike back. We've only been out here at sunrise.
