Submarine Rock

Submarine Rock is a popular stop for jeep tours and mountain bikers, and many hikers include it as a side hike from the Broken Arrow Trail. But Submarine is also a worthy hike all by itself. 

Submarine Rock

Starting from the Broken Arrow trailhead on Morgan Rd follow the signs to stay on that trail for 2 miles, then take the short side path to the right signed for Submarine Rock. This interesting formation gets the name because it sticks up from the middle of the surrounding terrain like a giant red submarine (shown below).

FINDING THE TRAILHEAD

 Broken Arrow Trailhead: From the junction of Routes 89A and 179 (the double roundabout), take 179 south for 1.4 miles to Morgan Road on the left (east). Go 0.6 miles to end of pavement, cross the cattle guard and continue for another 80 yards to trailhead parking on the left.
