Seven Warriors Mesa
Seven Warriors Mesa runs along the west side of Hwy 179 as you drive from the Village of Oak Creek toward Sedona. There is a social trail to the summit that can be accessed from the Yavapai Vista parking area, using the Slim Shady and Hiline trails to reach the bottom of the mesa.
The route offers a great cardio workout, with outstanding views of the Village of Oak Creek and Chapel of the Holy Cross (shown above) at the summit.
FINDING THE TRAILHEAD
Starting from the Yavapai Vista parking area take either the Kaibab or Basalt trails .3 miles to the Slim Shady Trail and turn left. Continue on Slim Shady to the junction with the Hiline Trail and turn right again.
As the Hiline starts to climb toward Cathedral Rock you will notice two big drainages coming down off Seven Warriors Mesa. These will be on your left. There are social trails in both drainages, but the one on your left (looking toward the Mesa from Hwy 179) is the easier of the two.
Once on top of the mesa it is possible to drop down the other side and connect with the Transept Trail, in order to make a loop back to the parking area. This not shown on the map below.
