Dry Creek Trail

Dry Creek is a system trail in the Coconino National Forest, designated as Trail #52. It actually starts at the paved Dry Creek Vista parking area near the beginning of FR 152. It is open to mountain bikes for much of its length, where it traverses rolling hills. Dry Creek is well marked with signs and easy to follow.

Dry Creek Canyon

This description picks up at the Vultee Arch Trailhead, located at the other end of FR 152, where you will need a high clearance 4x4, and the trail enters the Red Rock-Secret Mountain Wilderness Area. Mountain bikes are not allowed on this section of the trail, and Dry Creek becomes more of a canyon (shown above).

Similar to Bear Sign, the Dry Creek Trail is one of the best kept secrets in Sedona. In fact, they even start out as the same trail, with the Dry Creek trail forking to the right .75 miles from the parking area.

Both trails are well shaded, suitable for summer hiking, and about the same length. The grade is slightly steeper on Dry Creek. The official trail ends in a stand of Ponderosa pines just below the rim.
